Please confirm any “changes” or “no changes” using the “Blue Button” when you submit your attendance. Also, make sure your Campus Pastor/Station-in-Life-Pastor knows about the changes.
PRAYER FOR NEW FALL LIFE GROUP LEADERS & HOSTS
Take some time to pray for new Leaders and Hosts to launch new Life Groups in the Fall.
SUMMER CONNECTION IDEAS
- Over the summer, you may want to consider planning a social with your group at the beach, having a game night, going out to dinner, attending one of our summer events/classes or meeting for guys-only/girls-only breakfast once or twice.
- You may also consider sending out prayer requests via email, text or mail; this is a great way to keep people connected.
IMPORTANT DATES
- Fall Life Group Signups: August 30 – September 14, 2025
- Fall Life Group Quarter Meeting Dates: September 14 – November 22, 2025

DISCUSSION/LEADER GUIDE
WARM UP
- What is the best or weirdest advice you’ve ever gotten from a mom or mother figure?
- Additional Thought: This can be both heartfelt and hilarious. Use it to break the ice and highlight the impact of legacy and influence—whether spiritual or practical.
- Additional Scripture: Proverbs 1:8-9 – “Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching…”
- Additional Question: Have you followed that advice?
- Conversation Caution: Be mindful of group members with difficult relationships or loss related to their motherhood.
- What part of this weekend’s message has stayed with you the most?
- Additional Scripture: James 1:22 – “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only…”
- Additional Question: Was there anything that made you think, “That was for me”?
KNOW IT
- Read Isaiah 43:18-19, Philippians 4:6-7, and Hebrews 12:1-3. This weekend, we learned that a key part of making an eternal impact is “letting go” and giving our cares over to God.According to these verses, what are some specific things God asks us to let go of, and what does He promise to give us in return?
- Additional Thought: These passages highlight surrender, peace, and focus. God’s invitation isn’t passive—it’s an active release that results in renewal.
- Additional Scripture: Psalm 55:22 – “Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you…”
- Additional Question: Which of these “let go” commands is hardest for you personally, and why?
- Conversation Caution: For some, this may cause deep fears or personal burdens to surface. Create space, but don’t rush to solve.
- The world often defines influence by personal achievement or success, and in recent years, being an “influencer” has even become a career. Based on what we read and learned in this weekend’s message, how does the biblical understanding of influence contrast with the world’s definition? How is God personally calling you to be different from the world when it comes to influence?
- Additional Thought: The world seeks visibility and applause; God calls for humility, service, and quiet obedience that multiplies eternally.
- Additional Scripture: Matthew 5:13–16 – “You are the salt of the earth… the light of the world.”
- Additional Question: How would you define spiritual influence in one sentence?
- Conversation Caution: Be mindful of those who may feel like they don’t “have influence.” Remind the group that God’s kingdom starts with mustard seeds.
SHARE IT
- Is there a time when you went against a cultural norm to follow Jesus? What happened and what helped you stand firm? Or, in contrast, have you ever followed popular demand only to regret it later? What would you do differently now?
- Additional Thought: These real-life moments show how our faith collides with culture. Whether a win or a regret, both can encourage growth.
- Additional Scripture: Romans 12:2 – “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed…”
- Additional Question: Who or what helped you stand strong—or get back up?
- Conversation Caution: Watch for regret-heavy responses. Redirect toward how God redeems.
- Group Dynamic Tip: Pair up for this one—it’ll help people go deeper before sharing with the full group.
- This weekend’s message encouraged us to build our lives with eternity in mind. What temporary things tend to trip you up and take your focus off what’s most important?
- Additional Thought: This question invites humble self-awareness. Distraction is common ground—you’re helping people name it and surrender it.
- Additional Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:18 – “…we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen…”
- Additional Question: How could remembering eternity change your approach this week?
- Conversation Caution: Keep the tone hopeful, not condemning. Everyone wrestles with this.
- Group Dynamic Tip: Use popcorn style—short, honest shares without pressure to explain.
LIVE IT
- Chris’s mom, Ginny, gave us a wealth of timeless wisdom. Of the three main points she shared, which one do you need to focus on most, and why?
- Build your life on the eternal, not the temporary.
- Keep the bridge of communication and love intact.
- Prayer is our greatest resource, not our last.
- Additional Thought: Each of these points is like a sermon all on its own. Encourage people to pick one and make it real this week.
- Additional Scripture: Colossians 3:2 – “Set your minds on things that are above…”
- Additional Question: What’s one practical action you could take this week to live this out?
- Is there something you’re holding onto that God may be asking you to release? Take a moment to fill in your own blank space below.
“I need to give __________ to God so that I can be more impactful for God’s kingdom.”
As a group, pray over the things each of you shared, asking God not only to carry these burdens, but to deepen your trust in Him as you surrender.
- Additional Thought: This is a chance for confession and release. It might be fear, control, pride, resentment, or exhaustion.
- Additional Scripture: 1 Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.”
- Additional Question: What might change if you let that go?
- Conversation Caution: This can get raw, lead with empathy. Allow silence and avoid interrupting reflection.
- Group Dynamic Tip: Use prayer pairs or small groups to share and pray for one another personally and intentionally.

The Art Of Letting Go
How to be people of great influence:
Exodus 2:1-10, Acts 7:20-22
It starts with a DECISION to actually give something to God, because feelings don’t DISAPPEAR on their own.
We have to be willing to go against POPULAR opinion and CULTURE.
We need to have a STRATEGIC PLAN based on FAITH.
Wisdom from grandma:
Build our lives on the things that are ETERNAL, not TEMPORARY.
Keep the bridge of COMMUNICATION and LOVE intact.
Prayer is our GREATEST RESOURCE, not our last.
Taking it back home:
The power in letting something go all comes down to WHO it is that we are GIVING IT TO.
